Teaching Philosophy
My approach to teaching reflects my scholarly focus on supporting students’ individual pathways to success. I put motivation theory into practice by providing opportunities for active involvement, for students to connect their learning to their values and future goals, for developing a strong learning community to support their learning, and for students to make choices about their own learning.

Student Comments
"Dr. Robinson takes a very innovative approach to teaching statistics which takes much of the stress and anxiety out of this challenging subject. Her skilled use of cooperative learning techniques made the class interesting and enriched our learning."
"Kristy's positive attitude and energy, using real world and funny examples to help me understand the concepts covered in the lectures, great check-in discussions that really helped me get to know other students in the class...that really facilitated my learning."
"...EDPE 676 (Intermediate Statistics) is how a statistics course should be taught...I honestly looked forward to each class as the learning climate was safe, fun and I always felt my questions were welcome (and encouraged) – thank you! Take away: Despite having taken other stats courses here at McGill, Kristy’s class was the first to truly focus on how, when and why we should use stats; not just memorizing equations. I ended being directly able to apply this knowledge to my own research and even gain a new level of independence in stats. Thank you for setting me up for a successful master!"
"I can't stop making connections between things I'm working on as part of my job and the stuff we covered in class! It's so rewarding to be able to apply these theories to real-life work situations and to have frameworks to draw upon when thinking about sticky questions that pop up in practice."
"Kristy was very good at giving us opportunities to ask questions or receive extra help if we didn't understand something. I like that she gave a chance to make mistakes and then make them better the next time. I learned a lot in this class."
"She helped me be actively involved in the learning process, knew her stuff, and gave me good constructive feedback."
"This was my favorite course I've taken yet. Kristy was wonderful and always willing to talk to me AFTER class because of my interest in the course. It helped solidify my future career goals as an educator."
"I really appreciated her enthusiasm she had each day when teaching. I could tell that she properly prepared for each class and had a variety of examples to present to the class to better help students understand the course material."
